Dow Jones Futures Today: Oil Prices, Treasury Harvest, Russia-Ukraine Negotiations
As the market enters the last two sessions of the first quarter, the future of the Dow Jones rose 0.8% compared to fair value. The index stands just below its 200-day moving average, and at a simple strike rate of 35,000.
The future of the S&P 500 gained 0.85%. The future of the Nasdaq 100 was up 1.2% compared to fair value. All three major benchmark indicators look forward to a straight third of the weekly. Keep in mind that the night action in Dow futures and elsewhere does not translate into real trading in the next stock market.
The US Treasury's 10-year yield rose to 2.51% on Tuesday, the highest level since May 2019. U.S. oil prices fell more than 1% on Tuesday, following a backlog on Monday. West Texas Intermediate crude traded under $ 105 a barrel.
Negotiations to stop Russia-Ukraine - held in Istanbul, Turkey - began on Tuesday morning. The expectation of any real progress is reported to be low in view of these discussions. Previous talks between Russian and Ukrainian foreign ministers have ended without agreements to end fire or other humanitarian issues.
Stock Market Rally

Monday's column for The Big Picture noted, "The S&P 500 met for the fourth time in five sessions and the eighth in 10 days. A 0.7% increase gives the benchmark a higher rate than its moving average of 50 days. The exponential date, on the other hand, has risen above the 50-day line for the first time since Jan. 18.

Firmly, the power line associated with the stock is close to a new high, indicating a very good performance of the stock market.
Stocks To Buy And Watch: Arista, Broadcom, CVS, European Wax, Regeneron
IBD stock Arista Networks is in a buy range above a double-bottom's 133.97 buy point. Shares were unchanged Tuesday.
Chip giant Broadcom climbed 0.6% Monday, as it continues to build the right side of a new cup base. The cup base's proper buy point is 677.86, but a more aggressive entry at 614.74 is in play. AVGO shares were flat Tuesday.
Last week's featured IPO Leader, European Wax Center, is back below a double-bottom's 31.59 buy point after shares reversed from early gains to fall 1.4% Monday. The 5% buy area goes up to 33.17. The IPO stock was unchanged Tuesday morning.
Recent Stock Of The Day CVS Health continues to build a flat base with a 111.35 buy point. CVS shares lost more than 1% Tuesday after Deutsche Bank downgraded the stock from buy to hold.
Biotech leader Regeneron Pharmaceuticals remains in buy range above a 673.96 flat-base entry in the wake of a March 16 breakout move. REGN shares tested the buy point on March 23 before regaining the buy point on March 24. The 5% buy zone tops out at 707.66. REGN shares were unchanged Tuesday.
Tesla Stock
Tesla stock rallied around 2% Tuesday morning following Monday's 8% surge after the company announced that it will ask shareholders to vote at this year's annual meeting to authorize additional shares in order to enable a stock split. The EV maker's last 5-to-1 stock split occurred in August 2020.
The stock traded as high as 1,243.49 on Nov. 4, but ended Monday just 12% off that all-time high.
Dow Jones Leaders: Apple, Microsoft
Among Dow Jones stocks, Apple shares reversed from sharp losses to gain 0.5% Monday. Ahead of the market open, Apple stock moved up 0.3% Tuesday.
Following that gain, Apple stock is within striking distance of a double-bottom's 176.75 buy point after decisively retaking its 50-day line last week. The relative strength line is just off new highs, which is a key technical indicator of strength. The RS line should hit a new high on the breakout day to confirm Apple stock as a market leader.
