Popular Crypto Firm Axie Infinity Lost $625 Million in a Hack

The theft was discovered a few days later, raising questions about the vulnerability of fixed funds (DeFi).

The world of cryptocurrency was shaken after Ronin, a blockchain affiliated with Axie Infinity, claims that hackers stole an estimated $ 625 million from an online gaming console for profit.

Ronin announced a security breach in the blog post, claiming that 173,600 ethereum and 25.5M USDC had been removed from the Ronin bridge in two operations.

'This Is Our Best Now.'

Bridging is when goods are locked in one blockchain and then duplicated in another blockchain. The attacker used secret keys to steal and forgery to withdraw money.

The incident happened on March 23, but Sky Mavis, the Vietnamese studio that builds Axie Infinity, found a breach of contract Tuesday after a user could not withdraw 5,000 ETH from the bridge.

The Sky Mavis' Ronin chain currently contains 9 authentic locations, the post said. To see a deposit or withdrawal, five signatures of nine guarantors are required.

The attacker managed to control Ronin's four Sky Mavis credentials and a third-party affiliate owned by Axie DAO, or a private organization.
