The chip giant may face order cancellation as demand for graphics processing chips weakens, R.W Baird analyst Tristan Gerra reportedly wrote a note to customers on April 11th.
"We believe that the cancellation of the order has recently begun in consumer GPUs, driven by excessive inventories, declining consumer demand (reflected by the continued decline in picture card prices), declining demand for PC, and the Russian ban," he warned. Gerra also believes that demand has dropped in China.
Several reports have highlighted weaknesses on PCs, consumer electronics, and large ticket items often during high inflation.
At its GTC conference in late March, Nvidia announced major updates for its Omniverse platform for online collaboration and simulation. It also unveils new Hopper GPUs and Grace CPU Superchip for data centers.
For those looking for high-end stocks that they can buy now, here is a deeper entry into NVDA stock.
NVDA Stock Basics
Fabless chipmaker pioneers image processing units, or GPUs, to make video games more realistic. It grows on AI chips, used on big computers, data centers, drug development and non-driving vehicles.
For example, Nvidia offers a chip that acts as a "brain" of the Nio (NIO) ET7, a highly independent electric vehicle. It also offers a few other EV makers. In addition, Nvidia provides Amazon web services (AMZN) with data center chips.
Nvidia GPUs serve as accelerators for central processing units, or CPUs, developed by other companies. In April, Nvidia introduced its first CPU, called Grace, using chip designs from U.K.-based Arm on high-end computers. With its CPU, Nvidia will provide a very complete data center system, Intel (INTC) and Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) processors.
Is Nvidia Stock Buying or Selling?
At a basic level, Nvidia's revenue and sales are expected to continue to grow, albeit at a much slower rate than seen in recent years.
Chipmaker is growing in areas of growth, such as data centers, automotive vehicles and cloud games. The adoption of metaverses and cryptocurrencies may increase the demand for Nvidia chips.
At the same time, the new game chips underscore Nvidia’s continued dominance in key markets. However, the challenges arising from rising prices, economic uncertainty and the Russian invasion are growing.
NVDA is a high-end chip stock, but the chip industry has been severely delayed in recent weeks. NVDA stocks illuminated a sell signal after lowering key support levels.
Below: Nvidia stock is for sale to the latest investors. A break below March lows can bring a sell signal even to long-term NVDA stock holders. As the leading chip stock that exposes the top markets in data centers and games, Nvidia remains the one to watch.
