Tesla's stock dropped to 11% on Tuesday as investors graced Elon Musk's $ 44 billion acquisition of Twitter by $ 44 billion and electric car competition at Ford increased.

The decline came amid widespread trading in the stock market, with the Nasdaq 100 falling by more than 3% as investors prepare for the first quarter earnings from mega-cap tech companies such as Microsoft and Apple.

Musk's purchase of Twitter may mean that at least his attention will be diverted from Tesla and improved by the social media platform he uses most. Whether that shift in attention will have any effect on Tesla remains to be seen, but it is nothing new for Musk in view of his other career.

He has been CEO of Tesla since 2008, but is also the founder and CEO of SpaceX and has a material interest in The Boring Company and Neuralink, the first two beginners dealing with hyperloop movement and brain machine technology, respectively.

Given Musk's success in managing so many different jobs at the same time, investors are likely to give him doubts about his time management skills and the ability to integrate another business while running Tesla.

But perhaps the biggest concern for Tesla investors is how Musk sponsors his Twitter purchase. Specifically, he has invested tens of billions of dollars in his Tesla stockpile as securities to fund the acquisition.

In the event that Tesla's stock price drops sharply, Musk may be forced to sell shares or set up a large portion of his Tesla stock as collateral to avoid a margin call. That would put even more pressure on Tesla's stock market if he was forced to sell.

And while investors are grappling with Musk's purchase on Twitter, Tesla is also facing increasing competition in the EV space. Ford says it is facing a strong demand for its F-150 Lightning truck, and expects to produce 150,000 units of electric truck by 2023. Ford officially launched the bakkie production on Tuesday.

"We think this is as big a product as when the Model T came out for us," Ford CEO Jim Farley told  Jim Cramer on Monday. Ford has the potential to be the first car manufacturer to use and measure its EV bakkie production. It is a big deal when you consider that trucks are the most sold cars in America.

If successful, Ford will have successfully beaten Tesla in the EV shooting range, as Tesla again delayed the launch of his Cybertruck in 2023 earlier. And how long it takes for Tesla to increase production for its Cybertruck remains unknown.
